The office closes for lunch at noon and the phones are forwarded to the answering service. In the event of an emergency during the noon hour, the answering service can always locate one of the doctors for you. As always, the answering service can be reached by calling our main office phone number.

Patients are seen by appointment only. We have tried to make our office hours as flexible as possible in order to accommodate the needs of different families. We try very hard to see all patients on time, and we ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. Appointments for routine physicals or for special problems should be scheduled well in advance so we can offer you a variety of time and date options to fit your schedule. Please notify us as soon as possible if you are unable to keep an appointment. All “sick” or urgent care appointments are booked on a same day basis. We leave time in each day’s schedule to see sick patients who need or wish to be seen that day. We ask that you call as early in the day as possible (after 8:30a.m.) in order to help us fit your needs.

We feel strongly that each of our patients should have one individual primary care physician who knows them well and not simply be a patient of a group practice. Whenever possible, you will see your own doctor when you visit the office. If your doctor is off at that time, another one of the doctors will always be covering.

Emergencies

If you have an after-hours emergency that needs immediate attention and cannot wait the five or ten minutes that it may take for us to call back, bring your child directly to the nearest emergency room and ask them to call us for you. When possible, we encourage you to use the MetroWest Medical Center/Framingham Union Hospital Emergency Room, as it is staffed by doctors from the Floating Hospital for Children/Tufts Medical Center.  They are specifically trained in pediatric emergency medicine. Framingham Pediatrics offers evening hours for scheduled and urgent appointments. A physician is available in the office Monday through Thursday evenings during the school year until 7 PM by appointment only.

Phone Calls

Our Call Hours are 8:30 to 9:00 daily. During this time the nurses and physicians are available to answer your questions and concerns. This is the time to call with questions about the management of an acute illness, or to discuss any concerns that you have about routine child care, behavior or development. More Info

Insurance and Billing

Each of us is a participating provider in almost all of the HMO's and PPO's in the area. In particular, we do participate in all of the Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans, Harvard Pilgrim Health Plan, Tufts Health Plan, and Fallon Health Plan. More Info

Payment Options

We accept checks, cash or credit cards. We also offer a flexible payment plan. Please see our Financial Coordinator for details. We are happy to file insurance for your reimbursement as long as you are free to choose your own pediatrician.

Referral Telephone Line

In order to make it easier for our patients and their families to obtain insurance referrals from our office, we have begun a new referral telephone line. Parents can call (508) 879-1226 24 hours a day, seven days a week and leave a recorded message for our office staff requesting a referral. Messages will be checked twice a day during the week, and referrals will be completed in the timely fashion that our families have become accustomed to. We hope that use of this new line will free up our regular office lines for families calling with medical problems that need our attention. More Info

Hospital Affiliation

Framingham Pediatrics has a very special and important affiliation with Boston Children’s Hospital through our active involvement with the Pediatric Physicians Organization at Children’s (PPOC.)   This affiliation gives us a strong relationship with the many specialists at Children’s Hospital, allows us special access for booking appointments for our patients to see specialists at Children’s, allows us access to electronic records and data for our patients who are seen by Children’s specialists or at the hospital, and provides a means for us to work together with Children’s specialists on common care protocols and quality programs.  This Children’s affiliation is a very important part of who we are at Framingham Pediatrics.

Our local hospital affiliation is with the Framingham Union Campus of MetroWest Medical Center .  All children hospitalized on the inpatient unit at Framingham Union Hospital and all newborns born at Framingham Union are under the care of the pediatric hospitalists participating in a joint program between MetroWest and The Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center . Pediatric hospitalists are physicians with special training and experience taking care of hospitalized children and their medical problems. They also have a special interest in working with us to make sure that the medical care that your child receives in the hospital is part of the overall care that we provide in the office before and after the hospital stay. We are very excited to have this enhanced capability to provide excellent hospital medicine from attending level pediatricians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week right here in our community.
